The event is Cabaret on the Tyne, which features the South Shields-based drag artist Miss Felicity while female vocalist Melissa Cavanagh will perform her cover versions of Shania Twain, Amy Winehouse and Ella Henderson.

Over 18s will be able to listen to the performances while sailing up along the Tyne.

The ferry cruise departs from the South Shields Ferry landing at 7.30pm, and returns at approximately 10.30pm.

Shields Ferry manager Carol Timlin said: “We’re delighted to be giving away some complimentary tickets for our river trip on Friday evening, which will feature live music and the chance to cruise on the Tyne on a summer’s evening.

“We have a wide range of river cruises this year. There really is something for everyone.”

This Sunday will also see the return of the Sail And Scoff river trips.

Every Sunday, from 1pm, the ferry will sail up to the pier heads and passengers will be served up fish and chips while listening to history and facts about the local area. Tickets cost £12 for adults, £9 for under 14s and £11 for over sixties.
