WIN: Tickets to hear Shaun Ryder talk about his colourful career at Sunderland club

Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder will be giving a talk on his colourful life in Sunderland this weekend '“ and you could be there for free.

We’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to see Shaun talk candidly about his music career at Independent in Holmeside on Saturday night.

Doors open at 7.30pm for the event which will take music fans back to the formation of the Happy Mondays in 1980.

The band signed to Factory Records and their releases included the two classic albums Bummed in 1988 followed by Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches in 1990. Later Shaun started Black Grape releasing the album It’s Great When You’re Straight.. Yeah.

Following his achievements with both bands, he received the Godlike Genius Award from NME in 2000.
