Woman air lifted to hospital following an accident in South Tyneside

A woman has been air lifted to hospital in a serious condition following an accident in South Tyneside.

The crash happened today in Lyndon Drive, East Boldon, at about 2.10pm this afternoon and a woman was taken to hospital via the air ambulance.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "At about 2.10pm today police received a report of a one car road traffic accident on Lyndon Drive, East Boldon.

"Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries."

A spokesman for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that a crew from South Shields fire station had also been sent to the scene.
