Woman attacked with rock at South Shields bus stop

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked with a rock in South Shields while on her way to work.

The a 20-year-old woman was stood at a bus stop on Whiteleas Way at about 7.20am on Tuesday when she was approached by a man and assaulted by him using an object, believed to be a rock.

The suspect is described as white, in his 40s, around 6 foot tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark coloured heavy waterproof coat which had an emblem on the chest. He may have also been wearing a beanie style hat.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information to contact the Police on telephone number 101 extension 69191 quoting reference number 152 20/10/15.
