Woman charged with stealing £18,000 from vulnerable men in her care

A Sunderland woman has appeared in court accused of stealing thousands of pounds from vulnerable people in her care.

Debra Isherwood, 48, faces charges of theft from four different men.

The alleged offences took place between June 2008 and August 2014.

Prosecutor Paul Anderson said: “This involves the defendant looking after the affairs of some vulnerable people.”

The total amount listed on the charges comes to just under £18,000.

Isherwood’s solicitor Gerry Scott said the exact amount was still in dispute.

The case was committed to Newcastle Crown Court.

Isherwood, of Ridley Avenue, Hollycarrside, will appear on April 5
