Ashley Hackney was ordered to leave the two bedroom property in Heworth Court in Simonside after the council successfully secured possession of it through the county court at South Tyneside Magistrates.

Hackney, aged 23, took on the tenancy in October 2016, but almost a year later, neighbours began to experience regular shouting, excessive noise and loud music throughout the night.

After several warnings that her introductory tenancy was at risk, she promised to change her behaviour.

Despite this, she continued to disturb residents with her anti-social behaviour and that of visitors to the property.

A South Tyneside Homes spokesperson said: “Our residents have the right to live in a peaceful environment which is why we work closely with our partners at the council to tackle the issue of problem tenants on our estates.

“In this case, the tenant showed no sign of changing her behaviour and continued to plague her neighbours with her nuisance behaviour.

“Seeking possession is always the last resort but we were left with no other option on this occasion.

“We would like to thank local residents for their support in this case.

"We hope that this action offers some respite to the local community.”
