Woman hit by a bus in South Tyneside

The woman, believed to be in her 60s, is thought to have suffered a head injury in the collision.

It happened at the junction of Chesterton Road and Sheridan Road in Biddick Hall, South Shields at around 6.50pm on Friday.

A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said a crew from the rapid response team and an ambulance were sent to the scene.

Police were also in attendance and traffic was diverted from the area while the woman was being treated.

She was taken to hospital with unconfirmed injuries.
