Emergency services were scrambled after woman sparked concern on a South Tyneside cliff top.
A passer-by called for help after becoming concerned for the woman, who was standing on the cliffs overlooking Marsden Bay on the Coast Road, South Shields, at about 1.33pm yesterday.
Northumbria Police attended the scene and spent a short while talking to the woman before she came away from the cliffs.
Meanwhile, Humber Coastguard also sent out a lifeboat to the area as a precaution.
A police spokesman said: “At 1.33pm yesterday we received a report of concern for a woman who was on the cliff tops at Marsden Bay in South Shields.
“We spoke to the woman and she was brought to safety.”
A Humber Coastguard spokesman added: “We were called to assist a female at Marsden Bay at about 1.45pm yesterday.
“By the time we arrived the police had already removed the woman to safety, so we stood down.”
