A woman who was spared jail after a spate of crimes against police has been put behind bars – after breaching bail conditions in connection with a burglary charge.

Emma Hook was given a 12-month community order and told to complete an alcohol treatment order at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court last month after admitting assaulting a police officer and two drunk and disorderly charges in which she verbally abused other police officers.

The 26-year-old has now been remanded in custody after breaking bail conditions following an alleged burglary in Newmarket Walk, South Shields, on November 10.

Hook, of St Marks Way, was remanded in custody by magistrates in South Tyneside ahead of a hearing in Sunderland via videolink on Monday.
