WOODEN posts have been installed at the side of a village road in a bid to alleviate a parking problem.

Residents living in Front Street, Whitburn, say the grass verges have been getting churned up by motorists parking on them.

Now, after acting on complaints from residents, councillors for the area have had a line of wooden posts installed.

The work was carried out with the help of a grant from the Community Area Forum.

Whitburn councillor, Tracey Dixon, said: “We had received complaints from residents of the grass being chewed up by cars parking on it, which was causing the area to look untidy.

“We put in some funding from the community area forum to see if we could get some wooden posts put in to stop people from parking there.

“The work has been welcomed by the residents and shows that when concerns and issues are raised we what we can to act on them.”

Councillors can be contacted at regular surgeries in the area or by contacting Coun Dixon on 529 2048, Coun Peter Boyack on 529 3832 or Coun Sylvia Spraggon on 529 2984

The next Community Area Forum meeting where items affecting the area will be discussed is on January 8 at a venue yet to be confirmed.
