SINGING star Joe McElderry will hit the right note for a South Tyneside charity with a special anniversary gift.
The former X Factor champ is set to perform a gig at the Customs House, with all proceeds going to the venue.
Joe has already sold out two hometown shows at the arts and entertainment centre, in Mill Dam, South Shields, on February 21 and 22 next year.
Now he has added a third show, which will raise funds for the Customs House Trust.
The 23-year-old from South Shields used to work at the venue before finding fame in the ITV talent show.
Having sold out five shows this year with another two in 2015, he will now perform a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Sunday, February 22 as part of his Evolution Tour.
He said: “After all of my memories and amazing times at The Customs House throughout my career and previously, I wanted to give back to a place that is very important for performing arts in South Shields.”
Next year sees the Customs House celebrate the 150th anniversary of the building and its 21st year as an entertainments venue.
Joe’s extra show will be called The Evolution Tour Supporting The Customs House and will raise funds for the Customs House Trust, which provides art and cultural activities for people in the borough.
The venue’s executive director Ray Spencer said: “2015 is such a special year and Joe has made it all the more special by showing his support for what we do here.
“We hope the people of South Tyneside follow in his footsteps and help support what we do in the community.
“Joe’s latest show is sure to be another knock-out performance and we’re delighted he is doing so well. We’d just like to say well done Joe and thank you for your support.”
Tickets to see Joe’s tour at The Customs House on February 22 are £20.50, £19 concession or £64 for a family ticket and are available from the box office on 454 1234 or www.customshouse.co.uk.
