Yann M'Vila keen to stay at Sunderland

M’Vila is approaching the final three months of his loan deal from Russian club Rubin Kazan after the midfielder has been the stand-out performer for Sunderland this season.

There is a clause inserted into the 25-year-old’s loan to convert it into a permanent switch in the summer, but Sunderland are currently only paying a percentage of the Frenchman’s wages, while several other Premier League clubs are keeping close tabs on the situation.

M’Vila’s representatives are already in talks with Kazan over ripping up his contract so he can become a free agent, but he wants to remain a Premier League player next season and Sunderland is his first-choice.

“It’s important for me to sort out the contract issue with Rubin Kazan but I have always said that my objective is to play in the Premier League,” he said.

“I want to stay here and play in the Premier League with Sunderland.

“Hopefully we will stay up and they will make me an offer, and then we can get around the table and talk and hopefully we can continue the adventure.

“At the moment I am speaking with a lawyer.

“I think my contract with Rubin Kazan runs until December 2016, so there is still six months to run from the end of the season.

“I don’t really want to go back there and I don’t really think they want me back, so we are trying to find a way of terminating that deal so I can be a free agent and then I will be in a better position to discuss future offers.”

M’Vila was signed by ex-head coach Dick Advocaat and former sporting director Lee Congerton last summer after the ex-Rennes man had endured a tough time in Russia and seen a move to Dynamo Moscow fall through.

But despite Advocaat’s departure and the arrival of Sam Allardyce, the new Sunderland boss has thought just as highly of M’Vila, who has been an ever-present in the Premier League since making his debut in the second game of the season against Norwich.

The feeling is mutual, with M’Vila backing Allardyce as the best possible man to keep second bottom Sunderland in the top flight.

M’Vila added: “I think I saw a stat somewhere that said he had the fifth highest amount of wins in the Premier League, around 150. That speaks for itself.

“He’s made some great signings and managed to instil a fantastic level of confidence and fight in us.

“We’re hungry in every game and we want to go to war.

“I think he’s going to get us out of this situation.

“When he first arrived, I think I was playing well for Sunderland and he wanted to continue this confidence in me.

“Every single day on the training pitch and every single match, he gives me that confidence.

“I want to repay that confidence on the pitch for him.”
