Young volunteers win an award for making a difference

A group of young volunteers have won an award.

The Community Ambassadors received the Outstanding Contribution Award under the Children’s, Young People and Families Section of South Tyneside CVS Volunteer Awards held at Central Library.

The Community Ambassadors is a project delivered by Bright Futures and is funded through the housing provider Affinity Sutton.

The project aims to recruit young people living in and around Affinity Sutton properties and support them

to make a positive difference in their communities.

The young women have taken part in a range of voluntary work which has benefited their community

Dominique Hendry, youth worker at Bright Futures nominated the group for an award.

She said: “The group meet on a weekly basis at the Sutton Hall and are always enthusiastic to plan and deliver a range of projects.

The group fully deserve the award and highlight what kind, hardworking young

people we have living within our communities.”
