East of the park left out of the equation

ONE read in the Gazette the other week that in an age of austerity and cauldrons of vegetable broth in soup kitchens, our beloved South Tyneside Council has been bequeathed £1.5m ‘cash to splash’ from HM government’s coastal communities fund, which will be used to spruce up the public space connecting the promenade at Littlehaven to the Sandhaven beach.

I think the money could be better spent doing something with the eastern side of the North Marine Park which doesn’t seem to connect with anything, certainly not the new promenade, and appears to be left out of the equation altogether!

And the outline of the coast between the back of the fairground to Trow Rocks leaves a lot to be desired!

Finally has STC any intention of repairing the concrete ramp which connects Trow Rocks to the main beach, and will it ever remove the adjacent unsightly litter-strewn, jagged metal mesh?
