I AM absolutely delighted to once again have been selected by the local Labour Party Branch to contest the seat of Simonside and Rekendyke on behalf of the Labour Party in May’s local council elections.
It has truly been an honour and privilege to have represented the area since 1992, during which time I have met thousands of residents at my regular ward surgery or indeed through my activities on the council.
The ward of Simonside and Rekendyke continues its transformation through radical intervention in the form of demolition and new build, for example like the creation of new homes in Simonside or the massive Trinity development near Laygate.
The southern part of Frederick Street has been acquired by the council for redevelopment and long-term sustainability, which will see increases to the footfall for businesses in the northern part.
I am looking forward to meeting residents when the Labour team visits all areas during the election campaign, at which time we can discuss Labour’s key achievements and hear the views from residents on how they think their area could be improved.
The campaign starts here, so they say.
Labour Party councillor,
Simonside and Rekendyke Ward.
