I predicted town decline

I emailed the council more than five years ago after receiving a parking fine of £25.

This was for being just five mins over my time.

I said then if the council continued with this overzealous parking charges and fines that South Shields town centre would become a ghost town.

How right was I.

My first trip to the town for several years the other day has proved me correct.

Of course, I did not take my car I used public transport .

I now shop in Jarrow Viking Centre. There are more shops and free parking.

Well done, South Tyneside parking enforcement dept, for making South Shields a more or less a no go area for motorists.
