I TOO have used the drop-in centre at Jarrow. It is very convenient for buses, without the long walk up to South Tyneside District Hospital.
This walk is long for the elderly in all weathers, if one has a car it is difficult to find a parking space.
My nephew from Canada was more than surprised when it was necessary for him to visit this centre.
It was efficient, not long to wait, and he had nothing but praise for it.
A cyclist knocked me down last January – I lay two hours waiting for an ambulance, plus three and a half hours at South Tyneside District Hospital then was sent home, with the taxi costing £8.
I’d had nothing to eat or drink since breakfast at 7am, and got home at 5.40pm.
If I had been near that centre I would have opted for that or any doctor nearby.
It took many weeks for the lump on the back of my head to disappear.
