Diabetes UK is searching for runners to join the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and run what is known as Britain’s fastest marathon course.
More than 70 per cent of people entering the Edinburgh Marathon are from outside Scotland and members of Team Diabetes UK come from all corners of the UK.
More than 30,000 runners are expected to take part in races during the Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29, next year, running in the marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k and junior races.
You can also sign up as a team and split the marathon distance between you as part of the Hairy Haggis Team Relay.
The route is known as Britain’s fastest course – the flat course and late-May conditions make it the perfect event to get yourself a new personal best.
All runners who join the Diabetes UK team will receive a branded vest complete with personalised lettering, crazy hair, a fundraising toolkit, online support and training tips. Money raised from will help Diabetes UK to fund research, campaign on key issues, and offer education and support to more people who are living with diabetes.
There are 3.5m people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK, and a further 459,000 who have Type 2 diabetes but do not know it as they have not yet been diagnosed, and these numbers are growing – but the right support at the right time helps people to manage it and live long, healthy lives.
If you would like to run for Diabetes UK in the Edinburgh Marathon or at one of the many other events we have places at, contact the fundraising team on 0345 123 2399 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
