IN our celebrity-obsessed society, it seemed inevitable Stars In Their Eyes would be brought back to boost Saturday night ITV ratings.
Hosted initially by Leslie Crowther and then Matthew Kelly, the ratings winner involved members of the public who were given a makeover to perform as their favourite singers, before coming out of the mist saying “Tonight Leslie/Matthew, I am going to be Elvis Presley/Shirley Bassey.”
Sadly however, Harry Hill’s zany reinvention of the show can only be described as a grotesque imitation.
After enduring his mockery up to the first commercial break, I switched over to watch a repeat of the Restoration Man!
I still miss TV Burp – more his forté.
