Letter of the week: 'Why do our resurfaced roads look like patchwork quilts?'

Our letter writer wonders why road repairs leave surfaces looking like patchwork quilts.
Our letter writer wonders why road repairs leave surfaces looking like patchwork quilts.

So money has been allocated to fix the potholes in our roads caused by the bad weather.

South Tyneside, for instance, is to get £183,000 to help tackle problems created by this winter.

But we all know that no sooner have the potholes become filled in than they will reappear. Surely the long term answer is to look after our roads properly.

Why do we not see the roads resurfaced with Tarmac instead of looking like patchwork quilts?
