Sometimes it seems we’re living in Lewis Carroll world

SO summer will see South Shields transformed into Wonderland as the borough gets on the march for its annual Summer Bonanza (Gazette, February 28).

Sorry to rain on anyone’s parade but one thought we already lived in Wonderland, wondering what silly ideas our Labour-dominated council are going to come up with next, whether it’s planning to cut a thriving Market Place in two or pulling down the town’s Post Office to build an unnecessary transport interchange.

Not to mention planting wildflower meadows on dual carriageways and in cemeteries, plus letting wild Exmoor ponies loose on Cleadon Hills!

So in the planned Alice in Wonderland parade for Saturday, July 4 one can see Coun Tracy Dixon as Alice – but who’ill be the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, March Hare and Mad Hatter? As they say, answers on a postcard.
