I have lived at Simonside for 25 years, and have always thought we were left behind by the council, which seems to keep Cleadon in bloom and leave us with the weeds.
At least there was a time when they would trim our trees and attend to the weeds.
St Simon street is becoming a version of the day of the triffards and numerous calls to the council are met by ‘there are cut backs in the gardening budget’. No such problem at Cleadon, while we slip on the leaves the residents of Cleadon need not worry as I saw theirs hoovered up last week along with a winter tidy up.
I have voted for our Labour counciller for 25 years, but wonder if he takes any interest in what has become of our dwindling gardening budget.
We pay council tax too.
