Why we shouldn’t pick on Jack Colback for being ginger

Jack Colback.
Jack Colback.

I’M not much of a follower of football, but I’ve been alarmed to see just how much of the flak aimed at ‘turncoat’ player Jack Colback seems to make gratuitous mention of the colour of his hair.

From the tone of many of the remarks I’ve seen about him, particularly online, you’d think being ‘ginger’ was among the worst of his crimes.

Frivolous as this may seem, not so long ago I was reading the story of a North East man who was physically attacked, apparently just for being a redhead.

Condemn this player for his choices if you wish, but I don’t see why his follicles should be brought into it!
