Boldon CA still in the hunt for a top-four finish

Boldon CA came out on top, winning 2-1 in their TWR Bi Folds Wearside Football League clash Silksworth CW.

Two minutes in, Adam Bell opened the scoring for Boldon with a header past goalkeeper Joe Clayton.

Silksworth equalised through Paul Muir, whose shot was just out of reach of goalkeeper David Passmore.

With just 10 minutes to go, Neil Cramman scored the winner for Boldon with a header.

Boldon CA secretary Kevin Oliver said: “This was a good performance by Boldon against a strong Silksworth side. We have three games to go and need to win these to keep us in the top four.”

Hebburn Town Reserves journeyed to Stokesley SC, but lost 1-0 when William Mitchinson scored the only goal.

Gateshead Leam Rangers entertain Harton and Westoe CW and the game finished 2-2.

Leam opened a two-goal cushion through Nicky Langston and Gavin Williams.

On the stroke of half-time, Liam Roberts reduced the arrears for Harton.

In the final minute of the game, Daniel Sirrell equalised for Harton, to earn a draw.

Jarrow lost 2-1 at home to Bedlington Terriers in the Ebac Northern League Division Two.

Trae Rawlinson gave the Terriers an early lead, but Steven Graham equalised.

Christopher Glass sealed the win on 73 minutes when he fired the ball home.

Jarrow boss Dave Bell said: “Although we were not at our best we enjoyed a lot of possession, but did not test the Bedlington goalkeeper.

“In the second half we did not test their keeper and lacked any form of creativity.

“Overall, we are disappointed with our performance, it was nowhere near what we expect.

“We created very little and our passing was not up to our standard.

“We did not deserve anything out of the game. We now have three games left: Tonight at home to Darlington, Wednesday at Crook and Saturday away to Thornaby.

“We sit on 46 points and we still have the drive to get as many points as we can.

“We will put this game behind us, learn from it and look to get back to winning ways tonight. But one thing for certain is that we need to improve our performance significantly.”
