The event – which doubles up as a ‘promotion party’ – will be held at Mariners Park, in Shaftesbury Avenue, between 12pm and 5pm.

It marks the end of a campaign in which the Mariners were crowned champions of Northern League Division Two.

The fun day is designed for all of the family, while non-football supporters have been promised that the day has been aimed at all of the community.

It was originally due to be held on Sunday, May 1, but had to be cancelled because of the adverse weather.

The main pitch at the ground will not be used, as it is currently undergoing drainage work ahead of the new season.

The bottom pitch, though, will be transformed as it is filled with more than 10 fairground rides, as well as children’s games, while there will also be food and drink stalls, and live music. The downstairs bar at the ground will also be open.

There will be a chance for visitors to take part in games and competitions, with prizes including an iPad available.

Alisha Henry, the club’s commercial and events manager, says the club wants to thank its supporters, with more than 23,000 fans having watched games at Mariners Park since last July, and the club having had seven attendances of more than 1,000.

She said: “This promises to be a great day for people of all ages.

“As a club, we want to thank the community and all of our fans for their superb support this season, and this gives us a chance to do that and celebrate a great season together.”
