GABRIEL Obertan will play for Newcastle United’s Under-21s tonight – after ASKING for a game.
Obertan will line up against Middlesbrough at St James’s Park (7pm kick-off).
The winger has been used sparingly this season, and did not make it off the bench in Easter Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby.
And Obertan, signed from Manchester United three and a half years ago, is keen to get minutes under his belt so he can push his claims for a recall.
A club statement read: “Gabriel Obertan has put himself forward to play as he looks to force his way back into the starting XI.”
Adam Armstrong, Olivier Kemen, Callum Roberts and Lubomir Satka will also play in the Under-21 Premier League fixture.
Admission to the East Stand is free to season-ticket holders.
Otherwise, entry is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
