Hebburn Town will hope to continue their impressive form when they face Northern Premier League rivals Guiseley on Saturday.

Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore has urged his players to keep striving for more as they rapidly close in on the initial points target he set ahead of a historic season for the club.

Speaking during the summer as the Hornets prepared for their first ever season in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, Moore stressed reaching 40 points and extending their stay in the third tier of the non-league game into a second season was his immediate focus for the campaign. What has played out has been beyond expectations as wins over the likes of Worksop Town, Hyde United and Gainsborough Trinity have taken Hebburn over the 30-points mark ahead of Saturday’s visit to Guiseley.

What lies beyond 40 points remains, in Moore’s own words, a ‘hard question to answer’ - but the Hornets has stressed he will keep pushing his players to chase down any side sat above them in the table, no matter what position they find themselves in as the season carries on.

He told The Gazette: “We want to get to that 40 points as soon as possible but after that it’s a hard question to answer. All I can say is we want to finish as high as we can in the table. All I’ve said to the players is anyone in front of us, we chase them. If there is one team ahead of us like Macclesfield, we chase them for as long as we can.

“If there are a few teams ahead of us, no matter where we are in the league, we continue trying to get above them and that’s the way we will approach it. It doesn’t matter if we are fourteenth or third, I want us to try and get as close as we can to the team above us because that keeps us motivated and it means me are always striving to be better.”

Moore will take a late check on the fitness of several members of his squad after a whole host injuries meant his playing squad was reduced to just 14 players for last weekend’s win against Prescot Cables.
