NEWCASTLE United’s Lubomir Satka wasn’t risked in tonight’s Under-21 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion – with the club down to the bare bones in defence.
Satka could be needed during captain Fabricio Coloccini’s three-game suspension.
The 19-year-old defender was an unused substitute against Everton on Sunday.
Coloccini was sent off in Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park, and will miss the club’s games against Arsenal, Sunderland and Liverpool.
And Satka – who has captained the club’s second string this season – was left out of the team which was beaten 3-0 by Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
Two goals from Danny Pappoe and another strike from Robin Deen gave the home side a convincing Under-21 Premier League win on the south coast.
The result leaves Peter Beardsley’s side still looking for their first win of the year.
NEWCASTLE UNITED: Woodman, Sterry, Laidler (Heardman), Kemen, Williams (McKinnon), Gillesphey, Gilliead, Barlaser (Newberry), Armstrong, Smith, Roberts. Subs not used: Pearson, Longstaff.
