The striker, out of favour at Chelsea, was a loan target earlier in the window, but the club, set to sign defender Danny Rose on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, moved on to other targets once Inter Milan agreed a fee for the 33-year-old.
However, the Serie A club have reportedly pulled out of a deal for Giroud after signing Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young and Victor Moses.

Hide AdAnd United could return for Giroud, who wants to leave Stamford Bridge before tomorrow night’s transfer deadline. Tottenham Hotspur and Lazio are also said to be interested in the France international.
Steve Bruce, Newcastle’s head coach, is short of options up front with Andy Carroll, Yoshinori Muto and Dwight Gayle injured. The club has already signed winger Valentino Lazaro and midfield Nabil Bentaleb in this month’s transfer window.
