Jarrow Roofing hoping to turn games in hand into points

Following a 2-2 draw with Bishop Auckland on Tuesday evening, Richie McLoughlin’s men are now unbeaten in three games.

The Roofers are only seven points off the bottom of the table and need to use their games in hand to try to help secure mid-table safety.

Their opponents are just one league position below Roofing in the Northern League Division One table, though they have played one more game.

After a weather-disrupted Christmas period, Benfield have been inconsistent.

Roofing, meanwhile, are just starting to put together a run of good results – in no small part helped by the two clean sheets recently kept against Penrith and Newton Aycliffe.

Roofing boss McLoughlin has made changes to his side after a poor start to the season and he thinks that now his squad is more focussed the points should start to rack up.

“Compared to the start of the season we’re playing a lot better,” he said.

“We had to change the team because it wasn’t working, but now we’re more settled results should start to come.”

And McLoughlin hopes that this short run of good form can help his side to overcome what has been something of a bogey fixture.

“They beat us earlier in the season and it is a bit of a jinx game for us,” he continued.

“But hopefully we can do better this weekend and get a win.”

Roofing will be boosted by the return of Corey Barnes, who was unavailable for the midweek clash against Bishop Auckland.

Meanwhile, Anth Myers is stepping up his recovery from injury and is training again, but won’t be involved in the match day squad.
