Jarrow Roofing play host to Billingham Synthonia tomorrow (3pm) afternoon in the Northern League Division One in a battle of two clubs who have started the season slowly.
Roofing are currently without a win in their last three league games, while Sinners are pointless since their return to the top flight.
Roofing’s joint-manager Richie McLoughlin is rueing his side’s bad luck with injuries, a factor which has undoubtedly contributed to the lack of desired results of late.
“We’re having a nightmare at the minute with injured players. Ryan Burton picked up a bad injury at Ryhope. Paul Gardiner, Dennis Knight, Chris Winn, Dan Kirkup, Brad Varga and Shaun Vipond are also out.”
However, McLoughlin remains defiant in his search to break the team’s recent poor run of form and paid tribute to the players who have filled in the gaps in his side.
“All credit to the lads who are playing, and some are playing with injuries, as well as the few young lads who are playing non-stop,” McLoughlin added.
Their opponents, Billingham Synthonia, currently prop up the league table and will be looking for their first points of the new season when they travel to the Boldon C.A. Sports Ground.
Despite Synners’ lack of results, McLoughlin is under no illusions as to what is expected of his team. “It’s a big game for both sides and I’m sure the lads will be up for it.
“We need to keep on playing and end the jinx.”
Some positive news for the Roofers is the return of Anth Myers and Corey Barnes, while Daryll Donnelly is looking to build up his fitness levels.
l Places are also available on the coach to Eccleshill United next Saturday when Roofing travel to the outskirts of Bradford in the FA Vase. Seats are £15 per person and are available by contacting Richie McLoughlin on 07714 525 549.
