Newcastle United were linked with a move for an England winger today in one of many transfer stories making the headlines.
The Magpies have kept an eye on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Andros Townsend for a number of months.
The Sun, today, reported that Spurs will allow winger Townsend, 24, to leave the club on loan during the transfer window and are looking at signing Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie, 26, as a replacement.
That has put the likes of Newcastle and Swansea on red alert.
Newcastle have also been linked to Manchester United’s Victor Valdes, and his agent today claimed the Spaniard wants to stay in England.
Valdes’ agent confirmed in the Evening Standard that the 33-year-old goalkeeper is keen to stay in the Premier League if Manchester United let him leave during the January transfer window. (Evening Standard)
