In-form Newcastle United forward Adam Armstrong will lead the line for England this afternoon.

Armstrong was named League One player of the month for August after scoring five goals in three games for loan club Coventry City.

And the 18-year-old starts for England’s Under-19s against Croatia this afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Hailing his impact at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry manager Tony Mowbray said: “He’s had a fantastic month, and we’ve all been really impressed with him since he joined the club in pre-season.

“Adam shows a fantastic humility on the training ground, which means he is always listening to what you’re saying and always looking to improve.

“With his natural enthusiasm for the game and his ability to learn, I’m sure we’ll see more from him as the season goes on.”

Armstrong will stay at Coventry until January.
