Newcastle United’s Papiss Demba Cisse is a target for Besiktas, according to a report in Turkey.
Cisse is wanted as a replacement for Cisse’s former St James’s Park team-mate and Senegalese countryman Demba Ba, who is set to return to England.
Turkish newspaper Aksam, however, says Cisse’s reported £10m price tag is an obstacle to any deal.
Cisse, for his part, is understood to be open to a move away from United after three and a half years on Tyneside.
The 30-year-old was the club’s top scorer last season with 11 goals.
Ba, meanwhile, spent 18 months at Newcastle before leaving for Chelsea, where he spent one season before moving to Besiktas.
And the 30-year-old, linked with West Bromwich Albion, is interested in returning to the Premier League.
“The fans in Turkey are very passionate and create a great atmosphere, but it is no secret that the standard of football is of a lower quality than in England,” he said
“The way I left Chelsea was not ideal, but that’s life.
“I am still young, and I believe I have another big move left in my career.
“The Premier League interests me and I am keeping my options open.”
