NEWCASTLE United’s Yoan Gouffran won’t play against Leicester City, according to a fan who met John Carver.
Allen O’Connell met the club’s head coach today along with a fellow supporter ahead of tomorrow’s game at the King Power Stadium.
Carver invited the pair to United’s training ground after becoming involved in a verbal exchange with them during last weekend’s home defeat to Swansea City.
And O’Connell claimed on Twitter that Carver told him that the forward would not being involved against Leicester.
He tweeted: “(Carver) told us that Gouffran isn’t playing tomorrow.”
The Gazette understands that Gouffran suffered a knock in training this week, and it is not clear if he has travelled to the Midlands with his team-mates this afternoon.
Newcastle have lost their last seven Premier League games, and need, in Carver’s view, four more points to secure their top-flight status.
O’Connell said on Twitter that Carver was left in doubt about the pair’s feelings after a dreadful few months on the field at St James’s Park.
He said: “Very good chat with him and some of the players we got are point across and he knows we’re not happy and (our) feelings won’t change.”
