Aleksandar Mitrovic has told of his “pride” after netting the Championship’s Player of the Month award.
Mitrovic took his goal tally for loan club Fulham to eight from eight games after scoring in Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Leeds United.
And the Newcastle United striker’s heroics up front have been recognised by the EFL.
“I’m happy and proud,” said Mitrovic. “I would like to thank my team-mates for helping me to achieve this, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
“From the first minute here, I adapted really fast and my team-mates have helped me a lot.
“I feel good to play every game on the pitch, so I hope that we’ll be able to fight for automatic promotion for the rest of the season.”
Mitrovic had found himself on the fringes of Rafa Benitez’s team in the first half of the season.
And the Serbia international joined Fulham in January so he could play regular football ahead of the summer’s World Cup finals.
“I needed to leave Newcastle, because I needed game time and needed games in my legs and I was desperate to play football, to be on the pitch, to score goals,” said the 23-year-old. “It works perfectly for me.”
