MOUSSA Sissoko has revealed what an “angry” John Carver said after his Newcastle United side was beaten by a last-minute goal from Ashley Young.

Young’s strike gave Manchester United a 1-0 win at St James’s Park on Wednesday night.

The manager said we can’t make a mistake like we did in the last minute. We played well for 89 minutes, and they scored with their last chance. That’s why he was angry.

Carver, already furious that referee Anthony Taylor had failed to award a first-half penalty for a Chris Smalling foul on Emmanuel Riviere, was unahppy at the build-up to Young’s strike.

From a disputed throw-in, Mehdi Abeid ended playing a dangerous backpass to goalkeeper Tim Krul, whose clearance found an unmarked Young.

And midfielder Sissoko says Newcastle must learn from their mistakes ahead of the club’s March 15 game against Everton at Goodison Park.

“I think we played well and had some chances to score, but we didn’t and Manchester United scored in the last minute,” said Sissoko. “We’re unhappy at that.

“The manager came in the dressing room and said we can’t make a mistake like we did in the last minute.

“We played well for 89 minutes, and they scored with their last chance. That’s why he was angry.

“That’s football. We need to learn about this game and to be ready for the next game at Everton.

“I think we played well. We defended well, tried to be aggressive and break when we could.

“We had a lot of chances, but we didn’t score. When you play against a big team, you need to take your chances.”
