Aaron Ramsey will be hoping to be involved in Arsenal's Premier League trip to Newcastle United – despite suffering a deep cut on his leg.

The midfielder had the gash stapled closed during last night's 2-2 Europa League draw at CSKA Moscow and managed to play for the remainder of the match.

Ramsey scored Arsenal's second goal in Moscow. The result saw Arsene Wenger's reach the last four of the competition ahead of Sunday's game at St James's Park.

Jack Wilshere, Ramsey's midfield team-mate, took a kick to his ankle, but also seems likely to feature.

Midfielder Granit Xhaka may return after missing the game in Russia through illness, while striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, once a target for United, comes back into the fold having been cup-tied. David Ospina (ankle) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (knee) miss out.

Arsenal manager Wenger and his players returned to London from Moscow in the early hours of this morning.

The club is sixth in the Premier League table, while Newcastle are 10th after three successive victories.
