Bookmakers have reacted to Newcastle United's win over Huddersfield Town – by declaring the club all but safe from relegation.
Rafa Benitez's side moved seven points clear of the drop zone after beating Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Ayoze Perez scored the only goal of the game at St James's Park.
Newcastle, now 12th in the Premier League, also have a game in hand on 10th-placed Bournemouth, who are two points ahead of them.
The club could be backed to go down at 16/1 before the Huddersfield game.
However, bookies have now lengthened odds on relegation – and Newcastle are now 50/1 to go down.
United manager Benitez, however, is still refusing to look up the Premier League table.
"I’m not watching more at the top of the table," said Benitez. "I just want to make sure we are ready for the next game, to get three points and move even further away from the relegation places.”
Many bookmakers have stopped taking bets on basement club West Bromwich Albion, managed by Alan Pardew, to be relegated.
Second-bottom Stoke City are 2/7 to go down, while 16th-placed Huddersfield are evens.
