The Gateshead-born 50-year-old left the Cherries to join Steve Bruce's backroom staff at St. James’ Park earlier in the week amid heightened scrutiny surrounding the Toon boss.

Newcastle have failed to win any of their last 10 matches in all competitions, and are currently 16th in the Premier League table, six points outside of the relegation zone.

But Tindall has made it clear that he believes Jones will give his all to help turn the situation around on Tyneside.

Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, the Bournemouth manager said: “I don't think there were many clubs who could have prised Graeme away from here, because he was enjoying his time here and he was happy, but unfortunately Newcastle were one of them.

"He went with my blessing because I know how he felt, and we just wish him all the best.

"What he’ll bring to Newcastle is similar to what he brought to ourselves – his experience, a different pair of eyes, an honesty, and he will obviously go there and assist Steve and his coaching team, as he did with myself.

"I’m sure him being a Newcastle man himself, he’ll want the club to do extremely well, and he’ll give his all to try and help them achieve that.”

As well as working alongside Tindall on the south coast, Jones has also enjoyed spells with the Belgian national team, Swansea City, Wigan Athletic, West Brom, and Luton Town, where he spent a season as first team manager.
