Newcastle United have made a £21m bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.
The relegation-threatened club today lodged the offer for Berahino.
Newcastle's No 1 target in this month's transfer window is Berahino, who is understood to be interested in a move to St James's Park.
Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the 22-year-old.
United have until Monday night's transfer deadline to complete their business.
West Brom are understood to be holding out for around £25m for Berahino.
Newcastle, however hope the terms of their offer will persuade Jeremy Peace, the club's chairman, to sell.
United will pay the full fee up front – and not in installments.
