Callum Wilson facing spell on sidelines at Newcastle United as Steve Bruce suffers double injury blow
Newcastle United fear that Callum Wilson is facing a spell on the sidelines.
Wilson limped out of last night’s 2-0 St Mary’s Stadium defeat to Southampton with a hamstring injury.
Steve Bruce had lost winger Ryan Fraser to a hamstring injury on the eve of the behind-closed-doors game. However, the loss of Wilson is even more of a worry given his importance to the team, with the striker having scored six of the club’s 10 Premier League goals so far this season.
"We’ll not know how bad it is until we get him scanned and see just how bad it is,” Bruce told the Gazette. “Like with Ryan, it’s obviously a big blow, but we hope that it’s not too bad. We’ll see.”
On the defeat, United’s head coach said: “The best team won. We didn't look after the ball well enough, and we gifted them two goals. We didn't do enough to win the game.
