Capital One Cup: Newcastle handed home draw against Sheffield Wednesday

Newcastle United were handed a relatively easy draw against Sheffield Wednesday in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

United produced a superb performance against Northampton, running out 4-1 winners with Florian Thauvin the star of the show.

Thauvin, Siem de Jong, Daryl′ Janmaat and Mike Williamson scored in the victory.′

Elsewhere, Sunderland won through with a 6-3 win against Exeter at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland were handed a tough draw against mighty Manchester City, while Middlesbrough are at home to Wolves.
