Daryl Janmaat admitted Newcastle United simply weren’t good enough against Watford.

Steve McClaren’s side remain winless in the Premier League after this afternoon’s 2-1 home defeat.

Odio Ighalo put the visitors 2-0 up in the first half, and Janmaat pulled a goal back after the break.

The result leaves Newcastle 19th in the Premier League table with six games played.

“First half was not good enough,” the defender told Sky Sports.

“We have to do better if we want to win games. We had to show more, and the second half was better.”

Asked what was said at the break, Janmaat added: “We cannot lose 2-0 at home.

“You have to fight back and try to get a result in the second half. Overall, it was not good.”

Janmaat, however, says he has “faith” in McClaren and his new-look team.

Asked what his message was to fans, he said: “Keep patient. I have the belief that it will come.

“I have a lot of faith in the team and the staff, but at the moment it’s not good enough.

“We know we have to take points now. It’s time for points.”
