Daryl Murphy has reacted to Newcastle United's "worst" performance of the season.
Rafa Benitez's side were beaten 3-1 by Ipswich Town at Portman Road yesterday.
The result has left Newcastle needing a maximum of five points from their remaining three games to secure automatic promotion.
Brighton and Hove Albion, meanwhile, are already up.
Murphy – who netted against his former club at Portman Road – felt that United were "awful all over the pitch".
"First half, we were absolutely awful all over the pitch," said the striker. "It was probably the worst we've played.
"Second half, we got a goal back and then we came into the game a bit more. We were on top, and then conceded another goal. I just knocked us back.
"It's not good enough, really."
Newcastle had been held to a 1-1 draw at home by Leeds United on Good Friday.
And the performance against Ipswich contrasted sharply with the one that preceded it at St James's Park.
"You want to take that momentum into the next one," said Murphy.
"As disappointed as we are, we just need to look at the next game now.
"We'll obviously watch the video back and see the things we should have done better and make sure we put it right in the next one."
