Fulham target Dwight Gayle did a U-turn after turning up for training at Newcastle United.
Gayle could leave the club before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.
Fulham have lodged a £15million bid for the striker, who scored 23 Championship goals last season.
Newcastle value Gayle in the £20million-bracket, and the club would not sell the 26-year-old without securing a replacement.
Gayle turned up for training at United this morning – only to do a U-turn.
Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie tweeted: "Dwight Gayle just arrived at the Newcastle training ground & realising he was 4 hours early did a U-turn and left. Afternoon training today!"
The club are looking to sign the 22-year-old on a season-long loan.
