Emmanuel Riviere is set to join Metz, according to a report in France.
The Newcastle United striker has had a disastrous three years at St James's Park.
Riviere, signed from Monaco in the summer of 2014, was told to find a new club this summer by manager Rafa Benitez.
"If someone has to stay at the Academy, they have to understand that it's not personal, it's professional," said Benitez.
Riviere – who has scored one league goal for Newcastle – spent last season on loan at Spanish club Osasuna.
And France Football are reporting that the 27-year-old is set to join Ligue 1 side Metz on a two-year deal.
