Former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi is set to end his search for a new club – and join Bolton Wanderers.
Ameobi – who left Crystal Palace in the summer – has had trials with a number of Championship clubs, most recently Charlton Athletic.
And the Bolton News report that he will sign a short-term deal at the Reebok Stadium today.
Ameobi's 14-year-old first-team career at Newcastle ended last year.
The 34-year-old – who could make his Bolton debut against Leeds United tomorrow – has reportedly been offered a pay-as-you-play deal.
UPDATE: Bolton this afternoon confirmed that Ameobi had joined the club on a "short-term deal".
