Fernando Forestieri has committed himself to Sheffield Wednesday.
The striker refused to play for Newcastle United's Championship rivals at the weekend amid interest from a number of clubs.
But the 26-year-old today took to Twitter to clarify his future.
Forestieri tweeted: "There are a lot of rumours and opinions going around which have been blown out of proportion and are upsetting.
"I just want to clarify I have never wanted to leave and have always and still do want to play for Sheffield Wednesday.
"I apologise for my behaviour and know there is no excuse.
"I hope we can move on so I can focus only on my passion."
Newcastle, looking ot sign a striker this month, had considered a move for Forestieri, who scored 15 Championship goals for Wednesday last season.
