Fresh blow for crisis-torn Newcastle with Paul Dummett doubtful for West Brom game

DOUBT ... Paul Dummett.
DOUBT ... Paul Dummett.

JOHN Carver fears he will lose Paul Dummett as well as suspended duo Daryl Janmaat and Mike Williamson for Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion.

The Newcastle United defender felt his hamstring during Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Leicester City.

We’ve got two more players suspended now, and Paul Dummett could also be out with a hamstring problem

Janmaat and Williamson were dismissed at the King Power Stadium, and are banned for one and two games respectively. Should Dummett – who had just returned from a knee injury – fail to prove his fitness, Carver would be left with just ONE available centre-half – Fabricio Coloccini.

Head coach Carver said: “Just think about the situation for next week.

“We’ve got two more players suspended now, and Paul Dummett could also be out with a hamstring problem.

“So there’s three of (the) back four potentially gone.”

Teenage defender Lubo Satka – who played for Slovakia’s Under-21s last week – is one option for Carver. Satka, 21, made his first-team debut in the club’s FA Cup defeat to Leicester in January.
